America, what we are and what we used to be

We seem to be presented with the illusion that something is wrong with us as America, when asked what happened to us compared with ‘what we used to be.’ The truth is that we as Americans were in such a lofty perch of which the world had never seen before. It is/was both amazing and almost impossible to stay there. Even while our greatest accomplishment of landing on the moon, we had problems that eventually did catch up with us. The real amazing part is that we got through it at all. We really have done a lot since; despite these problems, we outlasted the Soviet Union and the Constitution still reigns. Perhaps our greatest threat to the Constitution comes from within, but I am optimistic. It is easy to get pessimistic, especially when taking the click-bait polls that say we are doomed. There is a negative implication in Will MaCelvoy’s Newsroom Rant (The Newsroom - America is not the greatest country in the world anymore...(Restricted language) - YouTube) but we who we were and are makes the world take notice. Perhaps we have tossed about in some rough seas but we are doing better than the rest of the world at the moment. As much as I love this video and will never stop watching it from time to time for my spirit, the sad truth is the same implication that something is wrong with America. Perhaps there is, but let’s consider that this rebuttal to that video is the only one that has any validity, and I am reluctant to admit it. Perhaps because I share with Will Macelvoy, Aaron Sorkin and Keith Olbermann(?) that we can attain those heights that America has reached and more, but we need to acknowledge our problems and at least try to solve them.
